       She Loves Her Job Working with the Seniors of Trona

 We are Talking about Patti Smith,  a very proud Program Coordinator for Searles Valley Community Service Council & Trona Community Senior Center Operations.

She accepted this position on Nov. 14, 1999 at the Doris Bray Senior Center at  13187 Market Street, Trona, CA.

Patti said  she and her husband Fred have been married  32 years. They moved to Trona 24 years ago along with their three children. Her daughter Monica now a school teacher and son's Todd & Gaven are still in high school.

With Family pride she told me she was so happy with the newest addition to her Family, her first grandbaby, a Boy. Her husband Fred has been employed with IMC for 14 years.

Before Patti  moved to Trona she resided  in Anaheim CA.  Before she took her position for the Community Service Council as coordinator, she worked at Trona Hardware as a florist for 5 years.

As program coordinator  Patti says there is lots to do , she arranges  transportation for Seniors, does the book keeping, and does research for grants.

 She also oversees the maintenance and billing for the Trona Airport and helps with other activities.

The Trona Senior Center is open Mon.-Fri. 8-12

Breakfast is served every Tuesday @ 7:30 am.

Lunch is,  2nd. &3rd. Wednesday @ noon

Dinner  is  the 4th. Thursday @ 6:00 pm.

There are lots of other services available , USDA Commodities, H.E.A.P. program, V.I.T.A. Volunteer Income Tax Association, Inland Legal Assistance, and the public health nurse comes the second Wednesday  of each month to do blood pressures and vitals, there are trips to various places for Seniors, and the Seniors have a nice cookie bake once a year for there fun raiser.
