It would have been nice if they had left Austin Hall standing. I understand why they didn’t though. It wasn’t built to earthquake standards. Even if they had left it. It wouldn’t have survived the recent large quake.
I agree..but I wasn’t here when Austin Hall was still standing… I have only been told how it was a pretty big deal and a welcomed sight to everyone who came on to it. I’ve been told, Austin Hall was like a big city contained into one tiny building..however they also said..that on the contrary Austin Hall was not a tiny building per say. But for its size it was where folks could get their business done and personal needs or wants satisfied and stock up on groceries. There are so many differences between then (1920) and this present day…its so different it’s like looking at an old Twilight Zone episode… Lol…
