Please change it, as the Community Church was not across from the dump. What is on the other side of Trona Road are the brine pools from Searles Lake.
The Trona Dump was way out of town. You can find Trona Dump Road on Google Maps. It is a continuation of First St. in Argus, and the road winds out to the foothills, where there was once a smoldering canyon of trash.
Thank you for the opportunity to clarify. No matter where the Trona dump is now, in the thirties, forties, fifties and at least part of the sixties, the Trona dump was across Trona Road east of the Community Church. There were also dumps in Argus and Pioneer Point. It can be seen in a 1941 photo of Trona at this link: http://tronahistory.com/2013/12/25/trona-1940s/.
Along the south side of the dump there was a river of brine that was being returned to the lake from the plant.
In the fifties the church was also moved a short ways from where it first stood to a spot just north of its original location.
