Millicent Bright Steendahl

In Celebration of 20 Years of Devotion to the Students of Trona High School the 2000 reunion  was dedicated to Millicent Bright Steendahl.

From 1954 through 1973, this dedicated teacher and counselor affected the lives of hundreds of students. She gave of herself with the sole purpose of helping us to make our lives better. Now well over 90 years of age (She died 2 years after these photos were taken. See Obituary, she’s still going strong and hasn’t lost a bit of her sense of humor. When I took this photo, she informed me that I hadn’t gotten every wrinkle!

 Here she is in 1922 as a sophomore at Hamline University in St Paul, Minnesota.

There was something about Miss Bright’s eyes that made her seem frightening to me.  Or maybe it was just her reputation. In hindsight she doesn’t seem all that scary.
