I was from the Trona High School class of 1957, we had fantastic sports teams in football & basketball of which I was cheerleader and also became
Student Body President in my Senior year. The town sprit was fantastic and really supported our teams. I really loved my high school years in Trona, I loved my time living in the desert!! Our Valley, included Argus, Trona, & P. Point and all followed our football & basketball team’s, it was loads of fun!! Living in in the desert was great fun, cold in the winter & hot, hot in the summer, you just got use to the heat, we all had “swamp cooleres” and went with the flow!
It was so sad seeing my hometown as it is today. Seems they showed the worst parts and ignored half the town of Trona, Pioneer Point, Westend, and all the good people still living there and caring for their homes and community. Definitely could have shown some of the good that’s there.
